AMD Names Bruce Gieseke Corporate Fellow

SUNNYVALE, CA -- March 6, 2006 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of Bruce Gieseke to the position of Corporate Fellow, the highest technical recognition at AMD.

Gieseke and his teams were instrumental in the creation of AMD’s advanced Direct Connect Architecture, which provides increased data flow within AMD chips, and is therefore a preferred architecture for multi-core computing. Thanks in large part to this architectural leadership, AMD Opteron™ and Athlon™ 64 processors can give customers unequalled levels of performance-per-watt. This is a rapidly increasing priority for enterprise IT directors looking to effectively achieve their compute-intensive application priorities, while at the same time helping keep energy and cooling costs in check.
