Intel forthcoming "many-core" architecture codenamed "Larrabee" is expected to kick start an industry-wide effort to create and optimize incredibly innovative software for the dozens and hundreds of cores expected to power future computers. Initial product implementations of the Larrabee architecture will target discrete graphics applications, support DirectX and OpenGL, and run existing games and programs. Due to the well-known programmability of Intel architecture/x86 cores, Larrabee will give developers a blank canvas to innovate like never before.
