Intel's Multicore Processors and Robotics, Automation

During the international Hanover Fair in Germany (April 21- 25), Intel, along with Microsoft and Beckhoff Automation, will present on the potential of modern automation technology that Intel multicore processors can help bring to life. The live demonstration in the Application Park (Hall 17, Booth D26) takes place under the motto: "PC Control - Open Platform for Advanced Automation". While the PC is already one of the most flexible and powerful systems today, as processor power increases it could also someday control many other tasks in for programmable logic controllers, motion and human machine interfaces. This means that special functions, such as vision, robotics and measurement technology, which today are usually implemented as special hardware units, will soon become part of the ever-growing software PLC.
