At the Intel Developer Forum in Shanghai, Intel's Anand Chandrasekher announced an ideal low-power platform for embedded computing applications: the new Intel Atom processor Z500 series paired with the new System Controller Hub chipset with 7-year life cycle support. This 2-chip platform brings the flexibility of Intel Architecture and Intel software to smaller, fan-less designs that offer robust performance-per-watt. Embedded application examples for this technology include in-vehicle infotainment, portable point-of-sale kiosks and robotics for industrial manufacturing. More information here.
