Japan Companies Form Mobile WiMAX Service Company

 
Subsequent to the spectrum license approved by Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) last December, Wireless Broadband Planning Inc., a joint venture set up by Intel Capital, KDDI, and other companies, revealed its new company name "UQ Communications Inc." The company also announced a capital increase by 16.15 billion yen to 17 billion yen. Today's announcement represents a major milestone towards the planned deployment of mobile WiMAX service in Japan in 2009.
