Time Magazine has published its annual “Best Inventions” of the year issue. Congratulations to Apple and its iPhone, dubbed THE top invention of 2007. Though not as “glamorous” as the iPhone, Intel’s reinvented transistors for its 45nm chips were recognized, too, as one of the best inventions of the year in the computers category. The transistor (which celebrates its 60th anniversary in December) and its ever-shrinking size continues to enable cool and more affordable devices like laptops, cell phones and MP3 players, as well as PCs, servers and much more. Look for Intel’s new multi-core server and PC processors - some with up to 820 million of Intel’s revolutionary 45nm transistors packed inside - coming Nov. 12.
