New Intel Fab Greener, Thriftier

Intel's new chip factory (Fab32) is among the company's most environmentally friendly fabs, incorporating a number of energy and water conservation measures that reflect the company's long track record of environmental stewardship. So green in fact that Intel intends to certify the facility as the company's first official Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards factory based on new criteria being developed for Fabs by the Green Building Council. Fab 32 also makes use of an existing water conservation and reuse program at the Intel campus which last year recycled nearly 80 percent of the water used.
